PED Directive - 97/23/EC

PED Directive 97/23/EC covers pressure equipments (vessels, boilers, piping, sets...) and provides the essential safety requirements the Manufacturer has to fulfill in order to get the CE Marking on such equipments.

The Manufacturer is supervised and advised in this task by a Notified Body that verifies the conformity assessment, in accordance with the modes provided in Annex I of the Directive.

The procedure consists in an examination of the technical documentation provided by the Manufacturer, which must include, among other things, a description of the installation (or of the single equipment), design calculations, fabrication procedure, technical specifications (in particular about welding operations and about the assigned staff), and reference Standards.

According to the equipment classification (its danger level), which ìs determined by pressure, volume (or diameter), temperature, type of fluid, etc..., the Notifed Body can proceed using different types of audits. Such forms are supplied by the New Approach Directives and provide different courses of action depending on the type of production process (single or series, with or without quality systems).

Vericert S.r.l. can operate in the scope of the PED Directive as a Notifed Body, making use of all the audits provided by Annex III, and can approve the operating modes of jointing (welding or brazing), as well as the assigned staff, in accordance with par 3.1.2 of Annex I.
